Huntaway Sentinel keeps watch over sheep flocks the way a sentinel animal does: most of the mob wears a cheap Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) accelerometer ear tag, a handful wear GPS “sentinel” collars, and everything relays over a LoRa mesh to the cloud. Behaviour ML turns the raw accelerometry into grazing, rumination and welfare signals — and only speaks up when something is wrong: a cast ewe, a distress beacon, an animal drifting away from the mob.

How it works

Tag the flock

Every ewe gets a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) accelerometer ear tag; roughly one in ten to twenty animals carries a GPS sentinel collar that anchors the mob’s position and bridges the tags to the LoRa mesh.

Telemetry flows in

Devices publish over secure telemetry protocols; the ingest service translates each message (per-breed and per-hardware settings applied), classifies behaviour, and lands it all in the database in real time.

Sentinel watches

The live map, activity budgets and mob-cohesion analytics update continuously. Welfare rules raise alerts — cast ewe, distress, isolation, geofence exit, low battery.

You (or a drone) respond

Acknowledge and resolve alerts with an outcome record, or let the Alert Manager call a webhook and launch a drone response flight to put eyes on the animal.
